Lifesize Kids, the children's department of famed Los Angeles boutique Fred Segal, has expanded their online store to include some new brands. Celebrity favorites Splendid and True Religion are now available, as are 7 for All Mankind, Diesel, and Kiehls for babies. Another new brand is also being offer, Mini Trunk. I have not heard of them, but then again Fred Segal has always been rather famous for finding new things. If you are in LA, do stop by their store on Melrose Ave for the best in modern baby and kid's clothing. They have a lot there that many stores in LA do not.

New Gear Guide is on its way!
Just a little update here about our site.
The 2006 Gear Guide will be up and running by early this fall. Probably September/October. In case you are unfamiliar with our Gear Guide, BabyChic101 compiles a guide of baby gear each year based on awards, parent reviews, magazine tests, celebrity mom buys, 5 star ratings, and lots more. WE DO NOT except any product submission for this guide, so if you are a baby company please understand this. Do not email me and ask to be part of the guide, because we pick out selection in an unbiased way. This is to provide parents reading our site with a fair and truthful look at baby gear.
We will also be celebrating our first birthday soon. Baby clothing company Zutano will be giving away a prize, to be drawn on our birthday which is August 19. More on this to come!

New Avent Pump
Avent has a new breast pump out, the Isis iQ. It's a neato new kind of pump thats a little bit magical too. Begin pumping manually yourself and guess what happens? ISIS iQ learns your touch and method and then takes over your rhythm electronically! And you can change your pumping rhythm any time you wish. Right now it's only available in the UK, home of Avent, at Mothercare stores and on Avent website.
Julia's Buggies
Julia Robert's twins can't seem to get enough strollers! Little Phin and Hazel have quite the treasure chest of travel products and their favorite designer so far appears to be Italian stroller maker Inglesina. The first picture is of their nanny pusshing them in an Inglesina Domino Twin, covered by a blue and pink blanket. Later mom Julia pushes her babes in an Inglesina Twin Swift, covered by a giant shade from Protect a Bub.

What will the baby look like?
German tv station RTL has hired a special artist to create portraits of what they think future celebrity babies may look like. The above picture is of the future Britney Spears/Kevin Federline offspring. They also did Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Ben Affleck und Jennifer Garner, and several more. Most of the kids were decent looking although the Heidi Klum/Seal kid was quite ugly. I think Rod Stewart's future baby with wife Penny is the best looking.

Baby designer label Tea has come out with their fall line. Lots of cute stuff and beautiful shades of grey, blue, brown and all other colors that scream fall. Tea's new collections are viewable online now and will probably be arriving in stores very soon. Tea is sold throughout the USA and is famous for their Asian-inspired designs. Celebrity moms like Julia Roberts adore their stuff.

Book for the modern and fashionable baby
Poppy & Mimi have been linked to this site for quite some time, but I don't recall every posting about one of their sweet little books. Jennifer Allers started the Poppy and Mimi after the birth of daughter when she was unable to find a decent baby book that would not embarass her little girl to show people later on. The books have one a very basic principle and that is to capture your child's memories and perserve them in a way that celebrates your child's own unique self. And with lots of different styles and fabrics to choose from, that's not hard. Available on their website and also in stores.

The Yoga Mamas
I was sent a copy of this fabulous book a few days ago by the author (who's email I sadly have lost). It's great. The Yoga Mamas is the story of 5 pregnant women in Manhattan who bond together over pregnancy yoga classes and help each other learn what it means to be a first time mom. I have not finished the book, so luckily I can't spoil it for you. But you can pick up a copy for yourself on Amazon.com. It's a must-read for first-time mothers and even if you're not a mother, it's still a lot of fun!

A Bum Deal
I've been real sick these past few days and I plan to be sicker. So I'm stealing a post from Thrifty Mama. Enjoy!

I won't even pretend to know what diaper rash feels like. I know that we all probably had it but by the magic of pain amnesia I have blocked out most feeling and memory from before age 3. All I know is that babies get it and mama's try cream after cream to get rid of it when what we should be doing is sticking to the original. It is proven, it is the first diaper rash cream invented and it works, trust me. It's Pinxav, pronounced Pink-Salve. Nothing fancy, just the good stuff.
This past holiday weekend I finally got to try out this tube of pink cream that was sent to me for review. As my "daily stroll" is 100% editorial there is no cash flow for endorsement here. I am honestly telling you that the diaper rash that I witnessed this weekend on my 1 year old niece was the worst thing I have ever seen. Since Ruby doesn't frequently have a red bum I hadn't had a chance to test out the tube. So when my sister in law said that Siri had a bad rash from a combo of teething, her LOVE of fruits and veggies and general misfortune, I jumped for joy and handed her the tube. We tried it, slathering it on at every diaper change and guess what? Within 12 hours there was a noticeable difference for the better and by the end of our long weekend she was cured.
Since 1927 Pinxav has been going strong. A pharmacist named Milford Harris needed to find a way to cure his own children's red bums and other skin ailments, and Pinxav was born as a true labor of love. The company is still run by his wife Lillian who at 96 years old is very involved in the quality control of her husbands creation. With incredible customer service, quality guaranteed product and an effort to not get too fancy and off focus, they are sure to be around for centuries to come.
By the tube or the case Pinxav is available. Stock up, give as gifts and forsake all other diaper rash creams. If you still don't believe me samples can be purchased for $1.99. All products carry a 100% money back guarantee.

Bugaboo Cameleon already winning USA awards
The Bugaboo Cameleon, Bugaboo's newest stroller, has not even made it's appearance in the USA yet. However, it's already being praised here. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association has given it their 2005 Show Off Award for it's unique style and features. The JMPA gives out awards only once a year to only a few select products. The products have to be new that year and have innovative features. JMPA raved over the Cameleon's custom colors and it's new innovative fleece fabric that's anti-static, anti-pill, and has climate control properties to enhance the child’s comfort.
Meanwhile the Cameleon is set to go on sale here in the USA in the fall.

Cookie Magazine to be out in October
And the newest addition the to baby magazine arena is Cookie, an upscale bi-monthly publication featuring fashion, home, travel, entertainment and health for parents and their children. Cookie is the idea of Fairchild Publications, well-known for their many unique magazines, like Jane, W Magazine, and Brides. It's set to go on sale at the end of October, and will target modern families and baby gear lovers. Sounds like it's right up my alley!

Sweet Dreams
The Dream Meadow is the kind of baby toy that I like. It's fun, it's portable, it's got a ton of toys, and it double as something else. In this case, a changing table as you can see below. Now that's just cool! Isn't it? It also is sold with a rocking base to make it a seesaw for an older baby. It can also lay totally flat and work as a playmat for the smaller ones.
Sold at Zac and Zoe.

See more of your new baby
This little cradle was in Junior Baby and Pregnancy Magazine this month and it caught my eye. Featuring shatterproof plastic on a bamboo base, this modern piece is designed by Swiss company Castor and Chouca. I had not heard of them before, but apparently they design modern baby furniture in Europe, which sells in upscale stores. Blossom Mother and Child carries their line, as does Baby Concierge and Galleries Lafayette.
Castor and Chouca also make a crib and room set, as well as toy chest and accessories.

Surf's Up!
I first discovered this neato playmat for babies when I was bored one day and decided to search for baby registries of the stars. Actress Kerri Kenney (Reno 911) had this on her registry, which is fitting since she lives in Malibu. The Infantino Tummy Time Surf Mat is a portable and packable playmat that comes with detachable toys and a cushion. And not only is it fun for the baby, it also helps the parents with a built-in the growth chart to measure the baby while it plays. Sold at Babies R Us.
Cute Twin Stroller
According the to the website where it's sold, the Valco Runabout All Terrain Twin's very first model was given to Julia Roberts for her twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel. Available in Pink/Pink, Blue/Blue, and Blue/Pink, this new for 2005 stroller includes a rain cover, a tire pump, and an adjustable cup holder. Peg Perego and Graco also make a car seat connectors for it, and you can even add a toddler "jump seat" to it for a bigger child.

Demi Moore goes (hippie) baby shopping
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were spotted recently at the Santa Monica "Green Power Baby Shower", a showcase event for environmentally friendly baby products. This of course only added to the current "is she" rumors, along with tabloid pictures of Demi looking more "full". While there, Demi and her daughter Rumor check out products and gift baskets like the one above from Earth Friendly Interior Design. Demi rather like their hemp and fleece linens and a 12,000 crib.
Also attending the event was former child star, Soleil Moon Frye, former ER star Noah Wyle and his wife, and Laura Dern and her rocker fiancé Ben Harper.
