Newest Royal

The baby daughter of Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and his wife Crown Princess Maxima, was only born this past Sunday. But not soon after, she became a star. Her dad presented her to to press and well-wishers outside the hospital, only hours after her birth. Even though she had no name, the baby princess was much adored by all.

As for her style, the newest member of the royal family was bundled in the same dress that both her father and eighteen-month-old sister, Amalia, donned when they were born. Nice vintage digs.

Quinny introduces new carriers

By now most people have heard of Quinny. The Maxi-Cosi owned company produced some cool strollers this year, including the much talked about Buzz and the smallest stroller on earth, the Zapp. Well now they are venturing into baby carriers. The Wrapp and The Curbb are Quinny's newest inventions and are now for sale in Europe. The Wrapp is for newborns to 10 kg (I forget how many pounds that is) and is a rear and forward facing carrier. Very similar to the Bjorn, the Wrapp has adjustable straps and buttons.

The Curbb is kind of a like a carrier that was once sold in the USA, but I can't remember which company made it. It's a side carrier that's actually a seat for the child and can be used from 6 to 24 months. It also adjusts to fit the child and parent. Sadly, you can only get these in Europe at the moment.

Maxi-Cosi presents Imageline

European gear guru, Maxi-Cosi, has introduced a new line of fabrics called Imageline. Similar to the Toplines, Imaginelines are limited editions models of the Cabrio carseat and other Maxi-Cosi goods. The patterns are suppose to target modern parents who are looking for trendy baby stuff. The blue pattern is called Ningbo and the pink pattern is called Shantung, and both are suppose to be "Hawaii/exotic" themed. I say "Aloha" to that. The Cabrio seriously needed a new look.

Mixing style with a good cause

UK celebrity mum-to-be and actress Anna Friel has not only been busy planning the birth of her baby next month, but she has also been heavily involved in the UK's Tommy's Baby Charity. Tommy's provides information to moms and dads about pregnancy and health and also funds medical research on miscarriage, stillbirth, and prematurity. Anna Friel joined forces with Tommy's shortly after becoming pregnant and has become the offical model for their charity maternity shirts.

The black shirts, which in come in four different styles, show an ultrasound picture on the front. All profits go to Tommy's to help fund their research into making pregnancy safer for mothers and babies. Sold exclusively at the London's Seraphine.

Tartine et Chocolat opens its site

It's apparently a week for major site openings and no one told me! After a long period of downtime, French children's clothier Tartine et Chocolat has opened it's international website again. Great news since that means I no longer have to link to the Brazil site. That was too weird. And this new site rocks, what with the new collections being up and also a list of all stores. Sadly they have moved out of the USA though, after years of doing so well here. Stupid French haters :(

Pretty Pink Highchair

Over the years, Peg Perego has made some neat stuff. And this flower print Prima Pappa highchair is no exception. Is it just me or is everyone having girls this season? Girl stuff seems to be popping up all over the place, from pink strollers to flower printed carseats and pink cribs. Plus it seems like girls always gets the best clothing. Just a thought.

Neato Peg Perego prints available at Bare Babies.

Marie-Chantal's baby's christening

Princess and baby clothing designer Marie-Chantal of Greece celebrated the christening of her baby son, Odysseas Kimon, in Athens last Saturday. The baby wore one of Marie-Chantal's own designs as it was baptised in the Greek Orthodox Church while father Crown Prince Pavlos held him. The royal party afterwards was quite an exciting event too, with a host of celebrities and royalty attending.

Odysseas has two brothers, Constantine Alexios and Achileas Andreas, and one sister, Maria-Olympia. Check out mom Marie-Chantal's clothing line on her website.

Open and showing their collections. What a treat! The pictures are great and they have all kinds of neat things to look at.

Bonpoint is a French baby and kids' store that sells clothing and some baby furniture as well. There are several open in the USA and other countries too.

Ducduc - The Next Generation

When new dad Philip Erdoes and his wife were looking for baby furniture that matched their modern lifestyle, they became shocked at the limited choices. Upset and frusterated and downright tired of the lameness that is standard baby decor, they decided to make their own. And so Ducduc modern kids and baby furniture was born, along side Philip's daughter Mia. Based in Manhattan, Ducduc is a new company that has just introduced 6 lines of furniture. My favorite, the Morgan crib above, comes in several colors and styles.

Ducduc is also made from the highest quality wood and of course design is a huge part of their concept. So huge in fact, that Ducduc donates a portion of their proceeds to design-orientated children's programs natiowide.

Their website is about to open and soon you will find Ducduc in many cool places. Stayed tooned....

A Hip (pity hop) Mobile

I love modern mobiles. Let's face it. Most baby mobiles are ugly and boring and all the kid does is stare at the butts of characters. At least they could be something we enjoy looking at. I like the new above bunny mobile from Modern Seed. It's made by Louise Helmersen, who makes a bunch of cool and retro mobiles that babies love. This one is in mixed shades of grey and white so that the baby can easily see it and of course, so it will match anything. Also check out some of the Flensted mobiles that Modern Seed has to offer.

Review of the Volo

I pushed one of these around the Zoo for the past two days while picking up picking my friend's kids at Zoo Camp. I have to say that by far, the Volo is one of the best lightweight strollers that I have seen or used. It is definitly worth the extra cash. Positives include a more sturdy frame, lots of basket room, great harness, and it feels just as light as any other umbrella stroller.

A few drawbacks though. The wheels were not great, but that may have been because I had them locked and did not know how to unlock them. And folding it was not as easy as other umbrella strollers, but once I got hang of it then it was fine.

Buy a Volo online at Bare Babies.

Baby clothing that's totally natural

Nurtured By Nature is the newest totally organic baby clothing line to hit the kids' market. Made in New Zealand, the company follows what they call the "Cocoon Philosophy" which believes that a newborn baby's first experience of the enviroment it has entered should be as comfortable and secure as the one it has just left. And so their clothing is made from organic, unbleached cotton and merino wool. Totally natural and totally comfortable. The two separate lines feature three colors and lots of pretty pieces.

I have sadly not seen them here in the USA yet, although they have a USA buyer and contact on their website. In the UK, they are all over the place.

A new online store that rocks!

Cupcake is a new online store that opened recently. I have been meaning to post on them for a while, but sadly life has been so busy. This is one store that I can truly say has it all. Usually what angers me with stores, rather online or not, is that they only carry a few of the things that I like. There are only a select few places that carry MOST of everything I love, all under one roof. This is one of those stores.

Tea, Lucy Sykes baby, Petit Bateau, She's Crafty, Posh Baby, Neopolita, Dwell, Oeuf. My God, it's like these people got into my head and opened the store I've always wanted to open, yet was always too tight with my money and too busy! Seriously, it's a great place. Please go there and buy lots of stuff so it's open a long, long time.

They are even offering free shipping right now. Someone pinch me!

Lola Sheen gets some cool gifts

I am going to do a bigger update tonight (hopefully). I just got home from LA, so it has been a long time coming.

When little Lola Rose Sheen entered the world on June 1, she not only recieved a beautiful mother, but she also got some fab gifts from Intuition. Mom Denise Richards was given a pink Bolsa diaper bag, two pairs of pink ballet slippers (one for sister Sam), and a pink Milk It onesie. Intuition is a really nice place to shop and if you are ever in LA, I really do reccomend their baby section. Their Splendid baby clothing line is great too.

Celebrity Babies also has some cool pics of little Lola up now.

Britney Spears talks to People

If anyone cares, Britney Spears and odd husband Kevin Federline are once again exploiting their fetus. Both appear on this week's cover of PEOPLE Magazine entitled "Al About My Baby". I guess I'm old-fashioned, but why must every celebrity tell everything about everything now? Do these people have no clue?

The interview is bad. Just bad. Mainly about stupid stuff like what Britney craves, how she told Kevin, and other unimportant stuff you never really cared to know.

Just skip it.

Anyhow, the one good thing about the cheesy interview inside was that we get to see what Britney has bought for her baby. The yellow ensemble above is from the Baby Gap and the robe and booties she got at babystyle in Scottsdale, Ariz. Kevin also went to Build-A-Bear and made the kid a surfer bear, while Britney liked alligator from RUSS that makes chomping sounds.

David Beckham spoils his kids in NYC

David Beckham has only been in New York a few days and has already spent a ton of cash on his family. Beckham's sole purpose for coming to the USA was to promote his new shoes and play soccer. However, he got sidetracked on Madison Ave.

David spent 2,000 pounds ($4,000) on gifts for sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. This included toys, clothing, and shoes, and probably some designer earings since the older two have pierced ears (don't ask).

And not one to forget his lovely wife, David also spent 1,000 pounds ($2,000) on three pairs of vintage designer shoes for Victoria "Ex-Posh Spice" Beckham, and then picked her up some retro t-shirts and jackets at trendy store What Goes Around Comes Around.

Dress up your carrier

Tired of your average black Bjorn? So was Marta Sala and her baby Maya. So Marta made a silky cover for hers, which soon became the talk of the town. And so began BabyBellaMaya, a front carrier cover company. Try saying that one really fast.

BabyBellaMaya has all kinds of cool colors to choose from, even a Camo dad model which was featured on Daddytypes. You can buy them online and probably in stores too, but sadly the website doesn't list any.
